Anti-Immigration Ads Spreading Across the Country
As some of you may have already seen,
anti-immigrant ads by the "United to Secure America Coalition"
are scheduled to run in Arizona during the next few weeks. Several
media stations across the country have refused to take such divisive
ads and we should alert our local media about where they are coming
from and their negative impact on our communities.
We're asking you to call or email your
local radio and television stations to let them know how you feel
about these ads.
The "USA Coalition" is yet
another front for the Federation for American Immigration Reform
(read the profile), American Immigration
Control (read the report),
and other national anti-immigrant groups that in recent years have
received several millions of dollars in support from the Pioneer
Fund, a foundation formed in 1937 to promote eugenics and white
racial superiority.
These ads attempt to portray Arizonans
as "victims" of immigration, equating immigrants with
increasing crime rates. The ads urge viewers to take action with
their Congressional representatives. In 2002, the “Coalition”
ran ads blaming immigrants for the 9-11 terrorist attacks.
But these ads are NOT about safety
or crime prevention. They are about stirring up anti-immigrant fervor
during these last weeks before the Primary elections. That’s
why they hide behind these different “coalitions.” In
Iowa, the exact same groups are pretending to be the “Coalition
for the Future of the American Worker.”
In case you live outside of these areas,
please call or forward them this e-mail. We should not allow this
out of state anti-immigrant groups to promote misinformation and
divide Arizona.
Please make your calls or emails today!!
Let these stations know that Arizona will not tolerate this kind
of divisiveness!
