Pasco Mayor and Franklin Count
Commissioners Proclaim September 23rd to be Immigrant Workers Freedom
Ride Day
Pasco Mayor Mike Garrison and the
Franklin County Commissioners signed individual proclamations making
Tuesday, September 23, 2003 Immigrant Worker Freedom Ride Day in
the City of Pasco and throughout Franklin County.
The Immigrant Workers’ Freedom Ride
will be in the Tri-Cities on September 23, 2003 and is intended
to highlight the difficulties immigrant workers face living and
working in the United States. The ride is sending a national message
that it's time for change. The Pasco rally is being organized by
labor, immigrant and civil rights groups, faith based organizations,
and local Democrats. The freedom riders are boarding buses to travel
across America and will make multiple stops on the way to Washington,
D.C., and meetings with lawmakers in the nation’s capitol.
They will then travel to New York for a massive rally in support
of meaningful immigration policy reform.
